Côte d’Azur

The Côte d'Azur (or Azure Coast) is the French and Monegasque coastline along the Mediterranean Sea and a traditional holiday destination. The term “Côte d'Azur” was coined by Stéphen Liégeard (1830-1925) as a French alternative to the Italian Riviera used by Italian and English tourists. Liégeard used it to refer to the Mediterranean coast from Marseille to Genoa.

The area is known as one of the most expensive and luxurious places in the world; many celebrities and wealthy people have a home on the Côte d'Azur. Johnny Depp lives in Plan de la Tour, for example, and Brigitte Bardot still spends time in Saint Tropez.

A holiday on the Côte d'Azur guarantees a relaxing sun holiday by the sea with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year.
