Description

Villa Pradias in the Haute-Garonne, Midi-Pyrénées near the Garonne River on the outskirts of the village of Loures-Barousse, next to Saint-Bertrand de Comminges with famous cathedral in a beautiful setting ideal for walking, cycling, canoeing, rafting.

The Pradias villa is completely free, surrounded by a spacious garden of 2800 m2 where a stream runs through it. At any time of the day there is sun or shade around the house on the wide terrace. Behind the house, on the edge of the stream, a cosy terrace is created with a large fire pit also known as BBQ.

The holiday home is divided in 2 floors. The ground floor is very spacious, light and with large tiles paved with marble structures and floor heating. Always nice and cool in the summer and in the winter pleasantly warm. Also a for – and rear entrance. You will find on the right the dining room with large fireplace and wood stove burner, extendable dining table and behind it the equally spacious kitchen with a wide counter top of nearly 5 metres, including a washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator and 4-burner gas stove and oven. Of course hot and cold running water and in addition the original sink with cold water remained intact.

On the left side of the corridor, a living room with sofa-bed and a working space with tools, possibly space for drying and ironing. Further behind the entrance the two bathrooms each with a toilet and sink. One of the bathrooms has a spacious shower, the other a classic freestanding bath. Both bathrooms are lined with red/pink Portuguese marble.

Then a stone staircase to the upper floor with great hall and 4 spacious sleep and/or sitting rooms. The upstairs rooms are extremely attractively by the original, wide Oak floor boards in combination with the warm colors that makes any space – including the great hall – unique. The bright, spacious hall invites you to go inside. The upper floor is also accessible via the large facade staircase at the front of the house.

On the left is the ' Chambre Noire ', a room that by the light of monumental windows justifies the color. The furniture placed in this room are characterized by light and dark colors. In this black room a double box-spring bed and a single box-spring bed. Two French doors to the South west side, window on the North-Western side and gas fireplace.

To the right of the great Hall the ' Chambre ' Rouge, a chic red room with a classic wood desk. Here also the LP player with a collection of Lps from the ' 60s and ' 70s, where you can relax on a balmy summer evening by the light of the setting sun. In the red room a double bed and in the closet an extra single pull-out bed. View to the South West with French doors to South west side and gas fireplace.

Further to the back you will find the ' Chambre Bleu ' and ' Chambre Jaune ', on the left arranged as possible children's room in soft blue with antique French bed and a single bed, a window on the North-East side and an electric fireplace; the smooth yellow room, surrounded by the greenery of the garden and the soft murmur of the stream, which flows steadily further on a dozen or so meters. In this room the sun enters in the morning. Here a double box-spring bed and windows on the East and South side overlooking the garden and stream.

Between the Chambre Noire and Chambre Bleu is an almost entirely preserved old-style between room with a sink with hot and cold running water. Also the Chambre Jaune and Chambre Rouge are in the possession of such a between room with view on the garden.

The heart of the village, around the church, is just a few hundred steps from the house. You will find a pharmacy, hairdressers, a bakery, a tabacshop, supermarket and with every Friday morning, on the square, the local market.
The people of Lourais are proud of their cheese "Le Barousse", an excellent cheese made from raw cow's and/or sheep's milk, which originates from the nearby mountain village of SOST. You will find it on the local market as well as other local products, fresh vegetables, fruit, fish, cold cuts, bread etc.... Further on in the village you will find a bank, an insurance company, a medical centre, a post office and the tourist office. All this is within walking distance. If you like to walk, a few kilometres away you can go to St Bertrand de Comminges and visit its beautiful cathedral, enjoy a chicken, a crêpe, a drink or just sit and admire the landscape.

You can easily go on foot to Barbazan, visit the old terms, go to the lake and stop in a beautiful and atypical place "Les idées sont dans la grange" (Ideas are in the barn), a platform of social link and research of resilient solutions towards the circular economy on the territory. - Eco-citizen café - Grocery store with local and bulk products and let yourself be carried away for a friendly exchange or a dessert break before setting off again for new adventures. Or go to the Casino to try your luck or eat a pizza at the "ROCHER". Still on foot if you wish to enjoy a good traditional meal, you can reach the restaurant "Comme chez Papa et maman" at the entrance of the village of Sarp.
